Vitaran or Plinest: which to choose?
What these actually are
Polynucleotides (PN/PDRN) are purified DNA fragments. Injected into the skin they stimulate fibroblasts — the cells that produce collagen and elastin — and improve the skin's ability to regenerate on its own.
This is the fundamental difference from fillers: polynucleotides do not fill and do not change the shape of your face. Skin becomes denser, better hydrated and more elastic, and fine lines soften — but no one will notice that “something has been done”.
How they differ
Plinest — Mastelli, Italy. The oldest and best-known brand in the category. €220 per 2 ml. The range: Plinest, Plinest Eye for the eye area, Plinest Fast and Plinest Hair for the scalp.
HP Vitaran — BR PHARM, South Korea. Less known in Europe. €170 per 1 ml, €250 per 2 ml. The range covers the face, eye area, neck, décolleté, hands and scalp separately, plus Vitaran S for scars and stretch marks. Sets of 3 ml and 4 ml cover several areas in one session.
Choosing in practice
- One small area — the eye area only, for example: Vitaran at €170 for 1 ml works out cheaper. Plinest has no smaller dose.
- You need 2 ml — Plinest at €220 is cheaper than Vitaran at €250.
- Several areas in one session — face plus eyes plus neck: those sets exist only in the Vitaran range, 3 ml and 4 ml.
- Scars or stretch marks — there is a separate product, Vitaran S.
- You have had one of them before — it makes sense to continue with the same one. Switching products mid-course tells you nothing.
What does not differ
- The course. Both: 3–4 sessions, 2–3 weeks apart.
- How long results last. After a full course, 6–12 months, then a maintenance session 1–2 times a year.
- How it feels and recovery. A very fine needle, numbing cream for the face. Small bumps at the injection points may stay for a few hours and usually settle within 1–2 days.
- Certification. Both are certified in the EU and carry the CE mark. I do not work with uncertified products.
What is actually worth comparing
Not the brand, but the dose per session and the list of areas. Two millilitres of one product and two millilitres of another are closer to each other than the marketing suggests. What matters far more is whether the area was chosen correctly, whether the dose was sufficient, and whether the course was finished.
Three sessions out of four is not “almost a course” — it is an unfinished course, and the result will reflect that. This is the most common mistake, and it has nothing to do with which product was used.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better, Plinest or Vitaran?
Neither is better in itself. Both are polynucleotides with the same mechanism. The choice is about area, dose and price, not about the brand.
Can I start with one and continue with the other?
Switching mid-course makes no sense — you then cannot tell what worked. Between courses, switching is fine.
Which is cheaper?
It depends on the volume. At 1 ml, Vitaran is cheaper (€170). At 2 ml, Plinest is cheaper (€220 against €250). Sets covering several areas at once exist only in the Vitaran range.
How long until I see a result?
The first changes are usually visible after the second session. The full result comes after the course is finished plus another 4–6 weeks while the skin works.
